The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, placing him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that spot besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto claimed the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
