Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer team," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have got lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.

But I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home form, the only side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
