Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
